Victorian Garnet Butterfly Brooch

A rare Victorian butterfly brooch consisting of seven Perpignan garnets in various shapes and sizes. A beautiful example of how the practice of foil-backing enhanced the appearance of a stone, especially when struck by light. Brooch is in original condition with rose-cut garnets in lovely shades of raspberry.
